WEST AIP PATHWAY overview

The West AIP offers two specialist provisions—West 11 (Key Stage 3) and West 14 (Key Stage 4)—for learners with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour, supporting students who are either on short-term placement from West Leeds secondary schools, permanently excluded, or awaiting long-term specialist provision through EHCP assessment. Guided by the values of Attend, Engage, Achieve, the provision aims to re-engage students in education through personalised, pupil-led interventions that build confidence, resilience, and academic progress. The curriculum is delivered through the Head, Heart, Feet framework, focusing on cognitive learning, social-emotional development, and active engagement, with strong emphasis on literacy, emotional regulation, and practical life skills. Learners follow a broad curriculum aligned to the National Curriculum, including English, maths, science, PSHE, humanities, creative subjects, and vocational qualifications. SEMH needs are addressed through bespoke interventions informed by assessment tools like SNAP Behaviour, while future readiness is supported through life skills, work experience, and transitions planning. With small class sizes, high staff ratios, therapeutic support, and enrichment opportunities, West AIP fosters a nurturing environment where young people can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
