Welcome to West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC). We are a community special school supported by Leeds City Council, providing high-quality education for more than 300 learners aged 2–19 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
At West SILC, we pride ourselves on offering a truly bespoke and individualised approach. As a generic special school, we support learners with a wide range of needs, including:
Moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties
Complex and multiple learning needs (CMLN)
Autism, communication and interaction needs
Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
Sensory and physical needs, including mobility, hearing and vision
Everything we do is centred around the individual. With several specialist pathways across multiple sites, we ensure each child or young person learns in the environment that best meets their needs.
Our Values
We are incredibly proud of our learners. Throughout their time with us, they grow in confidence, independence and happiness, and leave ready to take their next steps in life.
Strong relationships are at the heart of our approach. We work closely with families and understand that learning does not only take place in school – it is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to supporting every child along the way.
Our governing body plays a key role in shaping the direction of the school, ensuring we continue to provide the very best for our community.
