RELIGIOUS EDUCATION AT WEST SILC
Religious Education at West SILC is delivered in a personalised and pathway-appropriate way, ensuring all learners can access and engage with key religious beliefs, values and worldviews. While Explore, Engage and Aspire embed RE within sensory, thematic and experiential provision, RE is taught as a discrete subject in the Connect, Climb, Elevate and WAIP pathways, with structured weekly or fortnightly lessons adapted from the Believing and Belonging Syllabus and, in Elevate, the Leeds Agreed Syllabus. Learners in these pathways access planned RE sessions that include sensory exploration, discussion, enquiry-based learning and, where appropriate, mainstream-aligned or GCSE-level study. Across the school, RE promotes spiritual development, cultural understanding, respect and reflection while remaining fully accessible to learners with diverse needs.
