ENGAGe PATHWAY overview
The Engage Pathway offers a highly personalised, process-based curriculum for learners with complex and multiple learning needs, focusing on communication, functional mobility, and overall well-being. Guided by each pupil’s EHCP targets and Personalised Learning Plan, the curriculum is built around the principles of the Engagement Model and emphasises learning as a meaningful journey. Key areas include communication through a Total Communication approach, development of physical skills via the MOVE programme, and sensory integration supported by hydrotherapy and rebound therapy. Cognitive development is fostered through cause-and-effect activities, switch skills, and creative expression, while emotional well-being is nurtured through trusted relationships, choice-making, and inclusive, sensory-rich experiences. With a strong emphasis on health, postural management, and active engagement, the pathway ensures every learner is supported to explore, connect, and thrive in a way that is both empowering and meaningful.
